Registration Information (subject to change)

    All entries will be handled through NAIDF's online registration and feis system, FeisKeeper.

    For NAIDF Member Schools, the costs are:

  • Registration Fee: $ 15.00 (per dancer)
  • Per Dance: $ 10.00

    For non-NAIDF Member Schools, the costs are:

  • Registration Fee: $ 20.00 (per dancer)
  • Per Dance: $ 15.00

   A $5 admission fee will be charged (dance competitors, their teachers & children aged 3 and under are free).

Fancy dress is encouraged for spectators! Don your Edwardian finery for this fantastic event!

Competition Syllabus

A competitor may enter one of each type of solo dance within the same competition level. Dancers may enter one dance of each type of group dance (ie, 4 hand ceile, 6 hand ceile, 8 hand ceile, free style group, 2 hand reel, 3 hand reel). Dancers will perform 2 at a time.

Solo Dance Options

(Information on level placement can be found at the NAIDF website.)

  • First Feis: (one step only=16 bars)--ages 7 & under [dancers entering first feis may not enter any other competitions]
  • Beginner: reel (116), light jig (116), slip jig (120), single jig (120)
  • Advanced Beginner: reel (113), light jig (116), slip jig (113), single jig (120)
  • Intermediate: reel (113), light jig (116), slip jig (113), single jig (120), trebel jig (92)
  • Novice : reel (113), slip jig (113), treble jig (92), hornpipe (138), traditional set (Jockey 92, St. Pat's 92, Blackbird 138, Job 138, Garden 138), treble reel (118)
  • Prizewinner: reel (113), slip jig (113), treble jig (73), hornpipe (113), traditional set (Jockey 92, Garden 138, Job 138), treble reel (118)

Beginner through prizewinner dance two steps (32 bars) in each solo dance. Dances must perform the right and left foot of BOTH the first step and first set of traditional dances.

  • Junior & Senior Champion: reel (113), slip jig (113), treble jig (73), hornpipe (113), traditional set (White Blanket, King 124, 3 Sea 92), contemporary set dances, treble reel (118)

Preliminary and open champions will perform 48 bars in reel, rebel reel and treble jig, and 40 bars in slip jig and hornpipe. Dances must perform the right and left foot of the step and right foot of the set of contemporary sets.

Group Dance Options

  • Two Hand Reel: 48 bars of music with an 8 bar intro
  • Three Hand Reel: 48 bars of music with an 8 bar intro
  • Four Hand Ceile: 4 Hand Reel or Humours of Bandon, through 1st figure only
  • Six Hand Ceile: Glencar Reel (all), Duke Reel (through the 1st figure), Fairy Reel (through the end/pass through)
  • Eight Hand Ceile: any "An Rince Foirne" ceile done through the tops performing the first figure except Sweets of May (end of the second figure) and The 3 Tunes (through the Hook and Chain)
  • Solo Freestyle: minimum 1:30 minutes to maximum 2:30 minutes (music must be edited to time and G rated)
  • Group Freestyle: minimum 2:30 minutes to maximum 5:00 minutes (music must be edited to time and G rated)

Special Competitions

  • Costume Reel (32-48 bars of music): Beginner - Intermediate soft shoe, Novice - Champion hard or soft shoe. Costume theme choices: TBA. There will be 3 prizes: younger costume, older costume & best dance and costume combined. Have fun!

Schedule Information

The following schedule is tentative and is subject to change. Final schedule will be posted within 2 weeks of the event. Solo Dances will be run first, followed by figure, ceili dances, and the Feis will conclude with Freestyle Group dances. Dancers please be ready in the event the feis is running ahead of schedule. All solo dancers will dance two at a time.

Dancer Check In

  • 7:30 am Workers arrive for pre-feis set up
  • Doors open at 8:30 am (dancers receive their numbers & packet as they enter)
  • Please check in at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled start time (the feis may run early)
  • 4:00 pm Workers clean up (room cleared by 4:30 pm)

Stage Schedule for Titanic Feis

  • 9:00-10:00 am: Beginners ** If possible we'll start the beginners at 8:50 am
  • 10:00-10:15 am: First Feis
  • 10:15-10:30 am: Humours of Bandon, Beginner, First Feis, 4 Hand Ceile awards
  • 10:30-11:00 am: Advanced Beginner
  • 11:00-11:15 am: Duke Reel, Advanced Beginner awards
  • 11:15-11:45 am: Intermediate
  • 11:45 am-12:00 pm: 2 Hand Reel, Glencar Reel, Intermediate, Figure & 6 Hand Ceile awards
  • 12:00-12:20 pm: Costume Reel & awards
  • 12:20-1:00 pm: minute of silence, followed by lunch break
  • 1:00-2:00 pm: Novice soft shoe, Prizewinner & Champion soft shoe
  • 2:00-2:15 pm: Hat Contest
  • 2:15-3:00 pm: Novice hard shoe, Prizewinner & Champion hard shoe
  • 3:15-3:45 pm: 3 Tunes, Freestyle Group, Freestyle Solo
  • 3:45-4:00 pm: Novice, Prizewinner, Champion, 8 Hand Ceile, Freestyle awards
  • Raffle winners: 4:00 pm

By attending the Flying Irish Feis, you agree to release and forever discharge Flying lrish, LLC, its heirs, successors, administrators, instructors and assigns, including sponsoring and affiliated organizations for any and all claims, action, causes of action or liability for any and all losses, whether based on allegations of negligence or not, resultant from the your family's participation (as a dancer or a spectator) in its programs and events connected with the activities of Flying lrish, LLC. Permission is given for The Flying lrish, LLC, and its affiliations to use dancers' images for publicity reasons on the Internet, in print, or on video.

There are no refunds, transfers or credits for any funds associated with this event.
